Precise, effortless chopping.

Inspired by the classic Japanese santoku, this knife has a flatter, slimmer blade than a chef knife, built for clean up-and-down chopping. Use the heel to power through vegetables and the fine tip for detail work on meat, fish and herbs. Swiss-designed and Swiss-engineered, the Hammered santoku knife pairs a razor-sharp German stainless steel blade with a distinctive hammered finish and a sleek black handle capped in stainless steel.

Why you'll love it

  • Fast, clean chopping: the flat edge meets the board fully for thin, even slices.
  • Razor-sharp German steel: 1.4116 (X50CrMoV15) stainless steel, hardened to 55 ±2 HRC and ground to a fine 13° edge on each side.
  • Hammered finish: a dimpled pattern across the blade gives every knife a distinctive, artisan look.
  • Comfortable, secure grip: a smooth, rounded black handle with a stainless steel collar and end cap sits naturally in the hand.
  • Swiss-designed, Swiss-engineered: developed by Swiss Diamond, the makers of diamond-reinforced cookware.

Frequently Asked Questions

What steel is the blade made of?

The blade is German 1.4116 (X50CrMoV15) stainless steel, hardened to 55 ±2 HRC and ground to 13° ±2° per side for a razor-sharp edge. Swiss Diamond knives are Swiss-designed and Swiss-engineered. The blade has a hammered (pressed-dimple) finish.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Hand washing is strongly recommended. Wash with warm, soapy water right after use and dry immediately to protect the edge and the handle. Dishwashers can dull and damage fine knives.

How do I keep the knife sharp?

Hone the edge regularly with a honing steel and sharpen with a whetstone or a professional service when honing no longer restores the edge. Always cut on wood or plastic boards, never on glass, stone, or ceramic.

What warranty do the knives have?

Swiss Diamond knives are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the purchase date. Damage from misuse, accidents or commercial use is not covered. See our Warranty Information page for details.
