What steel is the blade made of?

The razor-sharp serrated blade is German 1.4116 stainless steel. Swiss Diamond knives are Swiss-designed and Swiss-engineered.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Hand washing is strongly recommended. Wash with warm, soapy water right after use and dry immediately to protect the edge and the handle. Dishwashers can dull and damage fine knives.

How do I care for a serrated knife?

Cut on wood or plastic boards, never on glass, stone, or ceramic. A serrated edge can't be sharpened on a standard whetstone; use a tapered serrated-knife sharpener or a professional service.

What warranty do the knives have?

Swiss Diamond knives are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the purchase date. Damage from misuse, accidents or commercial use is not covered. See our Warranty Information page for details.

Blade sheared off after 16 months and Swiss Diamond won't replace!

Lisa in Customer Service told me that Swiss Diamond will not replace my sheared-off bread knife. It suddenly failed over the weekend. No one in my family or circle of friends has ever seen anything like it. Customer Service cites its one year warranty. I showed the knife to an acquaintance who has a PhD in physical metallurgy and thermal mechanical processing - he says there was a steel defect, that the other knives in this batch will fail too and that Swiss Diamond should want to figure out what happened during the heat treat.
